My offer
It gives me great satisfaction when my paintings bring people joy.
Art can often be inaccessible and unaffordable but with this introductory offer I wanted to give as many people as possible the opportunity to own and get to know my work.

If you are just starting out in your collection or maybe you even have several of my pieces already, an art print is a great addition.

I'm often struck by how many empty spaces I see in people's homes crying out for some colour to bring it to life and add warmth.

I'll be producing new prints every couple of months so now is your chance to start collecting them all and filling your walls!

I'm so confident that you'll like your print that if you decide you don't like it, just let me know within 30 days of receiving it and I'll give you a full refund, no questions asked.
William's paintings
William’s paintings are fundamentally influenced by the depths of his emotions, where memories, nostalgia, love, and loss intertwine. The direct subject matter may vary but the desire to use painting as an outlet for his emotions and to invite the viewer to elicit their own responses is an underlying constant. Whilst the inspiration behind William’s paintings may sometimes be challenging, the overriding outcome is works with an often joyous concoction of colour, texture and intriguing composition.
William’s bold use of colour isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s a language he speaks fluently to convey feelings that words often fail to capture. His palette choices aren’t restricted by conventions or expectations; sometimes soft and mellow, often vibrant and intense.
William draws inspiration not only from the human experience but also from the landscapes and his surroundings, both rural and urban. His art is firmly rooted in direct observation and life drawing, which imbues his work with depth and substance.
Whether from years spent growing up in rural Yorkshire or in stark contrast, the bustling and urban sprawl of London where he currently resides, memories and observations of life filter into and inform his work.

"As soon as I could hold a pencil, my parents encouraged me to draw and I have been creating art in some form or another ever since. For me it is an outlet for my emotions and although it can often be frustrating and challenging, producing a piece of work that I am happy with and that brings joy to others is immensely satisfying."
About William
Based from his Stoke Newington studio, William Watson-West has now been painting professionally for over a decade. Having moved from Yorkshire to London, he continues to work with a bold use of colour and texture producing evocative abstract, predominantly acrylic paintings that offer a challenge to the viewer whilst maintaining a satisfying aesthetic inspired by his memories.

Having spent years in rural Yorkshire producing mixed-media landscapes inspired by his surroundings, his years of drawing from life and direct observation still filter into his work although it has taken on a new direction.

Graduating from Edinburgh College of Art he has since exhibited his paintings at several galleries in the north of England, including 108 Fine Art and the Mercer Art Gallery, Harrogate. He has previously been shortlisted for the prestigious New Light Art Prize and has been selected for the Great North Art Show amongst others. His painting, 'Swinsty in Autumn' was the 2019 winner of the Best Picture Award at the 20th Anniversary Ilkley Art Show.

William is currently represented online by Kate Preston Art.
